MapleCrest  Care Centre - Belvidere, IL

The Keen Age Center recently hosted a FREE seminar and hot breakfast sponsored by NMapleCrest and Northwoods Care Centres.  This month's seminar was on "Winter Health Issues" and presented by MapleCrest/Northwoods' Medical Director, Dr. Anthony Molinari and Clinical Nurse Liason, Sharon Thomas, RN.  Dr. Molinari covered such topics as:

• Influenza and the importance of flu shots (especially for those 65 and older)
   
• Cold weather effects and diabetes
   
• Hypothermia

Thomas discussed necessary safety precautions to take during the winter months and stressed the importance of caregivers taking care of themselves. "We often don't take care of ourselves. We are so busy caring for others that we may not eat properly or get enough rest." Thomas stated.
